the wonderful music of oz -- Pops Finale
Now for Two nights: Thursday, May 16 & Friday, May 17 at 7:30 P.m.
Take a musical journey that defies gravity featuring music from The Wizard of Oz, Wicked, The Wiz, Return to Oz and Goodbye Yellow Brick Road. Brought to you in collaboration with Scott Coulter and Spot-on Entertainment, this annual end-of-season spectacular will be full of fun and mischief for the entire family. Enjoy the debut of Honoree Alexander Kaufman of The Gainesville Orchestra Youth Concerto Competition. Featured guest artists will include John Boswell (pianist) and vocalists Jessica Handy, Campbell Walker Fields and Scott Coulter.

Friday, October 4, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.
The journey begins with Wagner’s thrilling “Flying Dutchman” Overture, Ravel’s delicious “Mother Goose Suite,”and Liszt’s exciting “Les Preludes.”
The Firebird: Tales from the East
Friday, November 8, 2024 at 7:30 p.m.
Stravinsky’s beloved “Firebird Suite” is paired with Tan Dun’s multi-dimensional “Paper Concerto.” Tan Dun has wowed our audience with his “Water Concerto” and audiences around the world with his film scores including Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Immerse yourself in a musical and visual feast.
Mahler’s Fifth
Friday, January 17, 2025 at 7:30 p.m.
An epic journey through one of the most powerful and romantic symphonies ever written. Composed in celebration of Mahler meeting his wife, the amazing Alma Schindler. The fifth symphony includes the popular “Adagietto” used in Visconti’s film Death in Venice and is a heroic voyage of life. As Mahler said, “a symphony must be like the world, it must contain everything.”
Scheherazade

Be dazzled with Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov’s musical storytelling of “Scheherazade and the 1001 Nights” filled with colorful orchestrations, beloved melodies, ocean storms, magical genies and passionate love.

An elevator is located by the Box Office in the Fine Arts Hall Lobby.
