How Your Donation Helps

Why Your Support Matters

As the only professional orchestra in Gainesville, we strive to provide highly engaging, excellent, and varied live orchestral concerts to our city’s growing population.

The Gainesville Orchestra has been part of the cultural vitality of Alachua County for more than four decades. We remain committed to enriching Gainesville’s cultural landscape through our regular season performances and expanding community outreach initiatives.

Each year, ticket sales cover only a portion of our operating costs. Donations are essential to ensure that we can continue offering the level of artistic excellence and variety our audiences have come to expect from the orchestra.

How We Handle Funding to bring music to Gainesville and  North Central Florida.

While some of our work is covered by ticket sales, this makes up only a small portion of our overall funding. Most of our income comes from advertisements, grants, and the generosity of our donors. With grant funding being cut in recent years, donations—now more than ever—are vital to the ongoing success of our mission and ensure that we can continue to bring music throughout Gainesville.

The Impact of Your Donations

At The Gainesville Orchestra, our mission is to enrich, educate, and inspire our community through high-quality orchestral performances that bring both traditional and contemporary music to audiences across Alachua County and surrounding areas.

Your support helps make this possible.

When you donate to The Gainesville Orchestra, you support:

  • Our 72 talented musicians
  • Our nationally recognized conductor
  • The printing of our brochures/playbooks
  • Every local Gainesville event we plan and perform
  • A legacy of musical excellence in every performance
  • Our educational outreach and the raising of future musicians
  • Our marketing efforts to bring new, young people into the world of orchestral music
  • Our annual Children’s Concert that introduces 1500 elementary students to a live orchestra
  • Our collaborations with community partners and institutions (Santa Fe College, UF, Alachua County, Visit Gainesville, City of Gainesville)
  • Our mentoring program provides 100+ local children in grades 3–5 with violins and professional instruction throughout the school year

We couldn’t do our work without you. No gift is too small to make a significant difference in our mission. We thank each and every one of our donors for believing in our mission and partnering alongside us to make it possible.

Other Ways to Give

If you want to support us beyond financial gifts, we are so grateful for all of our volunteers who give their time and energy to our cause! Our educational outreach programs are made possible through the combined support of volunteers, including board members who help run the program, donors who fund it, and grant support that helps compensate our professional musicians who currently teach in two local public schools.

If you’re interested in volunteering, call us at 352-336-5448 or email us at gainesvilleorchestra@gmail.com.
